Goodbye Until Tomorrow

Well, here we are. We have arrived at the end. Our very own last page.

In total, Defiant Scribe has published nearly 300 pieces, spread across 20 editions and a blog. Short stories, articles, essays and even a couple of poems, all written by 120 different writers from various, far-flung countries. Of course we have countless people to thank—so many, in fact, that we devoted a whole separate article just to expressing our gratitude, which can be read here.

It’s been a hell of a ride. We’re immensely proud of everything we’ve published, and, since the Defiant Scribe website will remain online indefinitely, you’ll be able to read through our archives whenever the mood strikes you. There’s also many other great literary magazines we recommend checking out, with some of our favorites including (but not limited to): Literal Latte, Sick Lit, indicia lit, Okay Donkey, Moonchild MagazineBurnt Pine, Split Rock Review, The Green Light, Bone & Ink Lit Zine, Corvid Queen, Blanket Sea Magazine, Prismatica, and New Pop Lit. Supporting indie authors and publishers is critically important right now, and we hope that everyone who has enjoyed Defiant Scribe will find a new home at one of these lovely lit journals—places that strive to make the Internet a better (and more bookish) place.

While we’ve thrilled with all of our issues, our final edition is a particularly great one. We hope you take the time to read it (if you haven’t already). The theme, appropriately, is Endings & New Beginnings. We’ve been thinking a lot about that topic lately, and while we’re saddened to end Defiant Scribe, we know that there’s a new start waiting for us. We know the pieces we’ve published will live on, and the writers we’ve worked with will continue telling tales. We know there will be more stories, more creative projects, maybe even more literary magazines headlined by our former staff members and contributors. So, while this is an ending, it’s a new beginning, too. We can’t wait to see what comes next, and we hope you’ll join us there.

Goodbye until tomorrow.
